The role of parents in bringing up their children is well explained in the book of Ephesians:
It says in Ephesains6 verses 1-4:
Children, obey your parents in theLord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"--whichis the first commandment with apromise-- 3"that it may go well with you and thatyou may enjoy long life on the earth."4. Fathers, do not exasperate yourchildren; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Note that in verse 4, it clearly lays the principle role of the parent in bringing up the children
